Investigators faulted a 31-year-old motorist, identified as Alvaro Roman, of Fresno, in the collision. Before the accident, Roman was allegedly driving his vehicle erratically through the eastbound Mountain View. The motorist approached the intersection of 43, which had the stop signal up, and failed to stop for the red light.
According to the CHP reports, the Fresno resident bypassed a waiting vehicle directly in front of him and crossed the intersection. He then joined the highway and continued driving when he drove into the rear of a moving Toyota Corolla driven by 27-year-old Edwina Cervantes, a Selma local.
The impact of the collision caused Roman’s vehicle to swerve to the right, and collide with an electric pole located off the road. The pole got dislodged as a result and blocked off parts of the highway.
Paramedics responded at the scene shortly after and transported both motorists to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Deputies later booked Roman into the Fresno County Jail, for DUI-drugs, causing injury.
Injured victims of traffic collisions should seek legal counsel from an experienced car injury lawyer, to enable them secure compensation for damages.
