At the same time, a Yamaha YZR 450 operated by a 13-year-old boy was eastbound on Brite. For an unknown reason, the quad rider drove through a stop sign at Wasco, straight into the path of Honda, causing a collision.
The impact injured Zapedo, and he received treatment from the paramedics. The 6:30 p.m. collision did not wound Navaro, but the teen ATV rider suffered fatal wounds, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
A 15-year-old male passenger on the quad suffered significant injuries, and an air ambulance conveyed him to Kern Medical for treatment. The investigation is ongoing, and there’s no additional information at this time.
