The impact ejected DeJaynes and his passenger, Trantham, from the bike, and they landed on the road. The sheriff’s office said the victims were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, and the Adams County EMS took the two to Blessing Hospital for treatment.
Roadways are relatively safe, but sometimes, animals leave the bush into the road, especially in rural areas. Safety tips for drivers include staying vigilant and driving within the speed limit. The faster a car or motorcycle moves, the higher the distance needed to stop, and the severity of the injuries sustained.
Be light smart; animal migration occurs mostly at night or dawn. Thus, it is better to drive during the day and have the headlight on when driving at either of those times. Brake firmly when an animal suddenly appears, and if a collision occurs, park on the side of the road and make an accident report immediately.
