California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer David deRutte said the two were either going to the nearby beach or coming from that location.
A Dodge truck was traveling west on River Road. The driver, an unnamed 75-year-old Guerneville resident, said he didn’t see Booth and he accidentally struck her with the truck’s side mirror.
The man reportedly stopped right away to attend to Booth who had serious injuries. Emergency responders took her to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
Neither Booth’s friend nor the driver suffered injuries, according to deRutte. The officer said CHP was of the opinion that what happened was an accident.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver. However, Booth has the right to contact a California car accident lawyer for advice.
