Preliminary investigations suggested the woman, identified as Jennafer Grove, was behind the wheels of a Nissan sedan, traveling on Western. Just as she approached Joliet’s Cathedral Area, the vehicle drifted off the roadway into the surrounding bushes. The car struck several shrubs before eventually flipping over and coming to rest.
The motorist and her 4-year-old passenger survived the encounter without injuries. Joliet police officers responding at the scene observed that Grove showed several signs of impairment. DUI investigators conducted field sobriety tests on the driver, which she failed.
Deputies arrested her and booked her into the Will County Jail. They released the juvenile to family members, the reports affirmed. Grove now faces charges of aggravated DUI, DUI with blood-alcohol levels above 0.08, and child endangerment.
Jail records show that a bail hearing was scheduled for the suspect before a Will County Judge on Friday afternoon. Grove would need a drunk driving attorney to represent her during the legal proceedings.
