The incident began when a motorist identified as Ashley Cliff, 29, was driving aggressively on the eastbound Glendale. The motorist reportedly drove past an unmarked patrol cruiser at a high rate of speed, crossed a raised center divider, and veered into oncoming traffic. GPD said the woman drove across three lanes on the westbound traffic before hitting a pedestrian.
Following the collision, the car skidded forward and crashed into the front yard of a property before eventually coming to rest. The struck victim ended up unconscious on the roadside, and medical personnel later pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
Meanwhile, the motorist suffered a fractured leg, and medics transported her to a hospital. Her two passengers aged 5 and 6, also got hospitalized, and later released to the Department of Child Safety officials.
A BOD test conducted on Cliff revealed blood-alcohol levels of 0.318, confirming she was under the influence when the accident happened. She now faces charges of aggravated DUI, child endangerment, and manslaughter, and would need to employ the services of a drunk driving attorney.
