The Cobb County Police Department received multiple calls about an erratic driver on Interstate 75 South on the night of March 18. One of the callers even indicated that the driver was hitting vehicles while changing lanes unsafely.
A police officer was able to track down the vehicle on the interstate and found the driver straddling two lanes. It was at that point when the officer deployed his blue lights to pull over the car because of the danger it imposed on the people around it.

The driver began leading the officer on a chase that reached 90 miles per hour at times. The pursuit came to an end when the vehicle slammed into the back of a patrol car and came to rest on the left shoulder of the road.
The officer approached the vehicle with gun-drawn for precaution. They had to extract the driver from the car through the sunroof due to the damage it sustained. The police identified the driver of the vehicle as 36-year-old Stanley Richard Whary.
Police immediately identified that Whary was under the influence when they plucked him from his car. He refused to take a breathalyzer at the scene of the accident. He was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was submitted to a blood alcohol test.
Officers stated in the report that Whary asked them what state he was in.
From the hospital, the police took Whary to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and was released on bail the next day. He is being charged with DUI, fleeing the cops, super speeding, driving within the median, interfering with government property, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, no proof of insurance, failing to use a turn signal, and failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.
