A hit-and-run suspect in Stockton, California, would require a car accident lawyer following his arrest. Devante Edmond, 23, was identified and arrested by the police on Wednesday, April 1st.
Authorities said that Edmond hit and left a child critically injured on Sunday, March 22nd. The crash happened on Ninth Street at about 5:55 p.m. The preliminary accident report showed that the suspect was driving a silver sedan in the 1500-block of East 9th Street.

Edmond, for unknown reasons, struck a child identified as 1-year-old Jonathan Mitchell, and he landed into the gutter. Emergency services headed by the fire department officials and paramedics found the boy. He had extensive injuries, and the medics took him to the hospital.
Mitchell got admitted into the UC Davis Children’s Hospital, and he was put in the intensive care unit. He had to use a ventilator, and there’s no update on his condition. Authorities said Edmond did not stop to assist the child.
Police kept searching for the suspect until they located him. They remanded Edmond at the San Joaquin County Jail, and there’s no information on his bail bond. The authorities did not also state when he will get arraigned.
Offenses like hit-and-run are criminal in California, and the courts frown at it. Prosecutors charge a hit-and-run as a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the circumstances of the case. Either of the two upon conviction means jail time, and a fine usually follows.
A car accident lawyer is usually contacted by an offender or victim for legal representation when a hit-and-run accident occurs.
