The young man was just south of Glen Helen Parkway and the Interstate 215 Interchange. CHP said that Carmona, together with an unnamed passenger, decided to cross the freeway to get help and buy a phone charger.
The two successfully crossed the road to a gas station, and they were on their way back to the vehicle when tragedy struck. Carmona was hit by an oncoming car; he ended up in the second lane and died on impact.
The passenger was unhurt, and emergency services declared the young driver dead. CHP said that the driver of the vehicle that struck Carmona stayed behind and cooperated with the authorities.
There is no information on whether the driver was negligent or if he will get cited. The deceased graduated from Mojave High School in 2018 and lived in Hesperia with his father. Carmona’s mother described him as a loving person who leaves behind a family that adores him.
Families of accident victims can contact a car injury attorney to know their rights and restitutions available to them.
