Vetkov at about 4 p.m. Saturday was westbound on South Pass Road approaching Goodwin Road when he lost control of his motorcycle, according to car accident reports. The vehicle went off the roadway, striking a mailbox, a pole and a fence, authorities reported.
Vetkov succumbed to his wounds at the scene of the wreck, according to car accident reports.
Investigators believe Vetkov was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Authorities still are investigating the crash, but they have said it is unlikely that intoxicants like alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
Just one day after Vetkov’s death, loved ones set up a Facebook page in memory of the late teen. Many people posted tributes, several highlighting his love of basketball and the stage.
One person expressed appreciation for Vetkov’s “bright smile and hilarious hijinks,” as well as his “beautiful mind and a heart of service.” Another poster said the teen “always in a good mood and always cared about making people happy.”
Vetkov was the “star” of many Christmas plays, according to another person who posted.
“I am going to miss you laughing uncontrollably when you messed up a line,” the person wrote. “The ability you had to act was incredible, and you did it with your whole heart.”
