State of Massachusetts authorities have released the name of a Florida man who died in a fiery crash Saturday evening on an interstate just outside of Seekonk.
Sixty-year-old Michael Keefe, of Sarasota, Fla., died from his injuries at the scene of the wreck, which was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Massachusetts State Police reported. Car accident reports do not list any other injuries that occurred as a result of the crash.

Keefe at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday was eastbound on Intestate 195 near Seekonk when he lost control of his vehicle, according to car accident reports. Keefe’s vehicle veered off the roadway and went into the median, where it struck a tree.
Troopers said the force of the crash through Keefe from his vehicle, which burst into flames. He succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported for emergency medical treatment, first responders reported.
Troopers in a press release wrote that Keefe’s reasons for losing control of his vehicle are “still under investigation.” It’s unclear from car accident reports available Monday whether investigators suspect other contributing factors, such as speed, intoxication or inattentive driving.
Emergency personnel worked at the scene for more than two hours, prompting a temporary shutdown of the interstate’s eastbound lanes. Multiple agencies, including the state police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, the Massachusetts Office of the Medical Examiner and the Seekonk fire, EMS and police departments.
