A man sustained injuries and another was killed in a two-vehicle crash that took place on the U.S. Route 67 on Friday, September 18. The injured was identified by the authorities as David A. Benton, 19, of Roodhouse.
According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, the fatal crash came about on Friday afternoon at about 2:15 p.m. It occurred at the intersection of the U.S. Route 67 and Murrayville Road. One of the vehicles involved in the accident was identified as a 2014 Ford sedan. The other was an orange 1979 Ford pickup truck.

The sedan was headed westbound on Murrayville Road. Its driver was identified only as a Jerseyville male aged 87. As the sedan reached the intersection, it failed to yield the right of way to the pickup truck. The truck was headed northbound on the U.S. 67. Benton was driving the truck at the time.
The collision caused serious injuries to the driver of the sedan. Once the first responders and paramedics arrived on the scene of the crash, the sedan driver was pronounced dead. David A. Benton also sustained injuries although the nature or extent of his injuries is not known at this time. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Murrayville Fire and Rescue as well as ISP responded to the scene of the crash. The incident remains under investigation. ISP has also withheld the identity of the deceased driver until the next-of-kin have been notified. Subsequent accident reports may reveal if any formal charges are brought forward by the authorities.
