The report disclosed that first responders airlifted Thomas and Lilah to a trauma center for treatment of extensive injuries. The Yukon collided with a white Acura and a Honda CRV. The driver of the latter survived, while that of the former died at the scene. The fatal motorist remains unidentified.
The Hesperia Police Department has not released details of the events leading to the collision. However, the Vargas’ family friend, identified as Perez, described the accident as horrific, noting that a car speeding over 80 miles per hour caused it.
The family friend said that the victim’s husband, Thomas, and their daughter, Lilah, are going through different surgeries at the Loma Linda Hospital. Perez added that the woman left behind five children, a mother, father, three brothers, and two sisters.
