A 45-year-old man identified as Daniel Patrick Diehl died in a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened at Monroe Township, Michigan. The wreck occurred on Tuesday, May 26, on I-75, which is north of Mortar Creek Road, according to accident reports.
The police carried out preliminary investigations to discover the cause of the accident. From their findings, they found that Diehl was on the wheels of a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. He was on the right travel lane of the I-75, traveling south, while a blue 2018 Freightliner was in front of him.

An unidentified 29-year-old man from Brampton drove the Freightliner and was going slowly. All of a sudden, Diehl’s vehicle hit the Freightliner at the rear. After the impact of the collision, both vehicles rested in the right lane of the I-75. Diehl remained trapped under his Chevrolet.
When responding officers arrived at the scene, they found him dead, while the driver of the Freightliner wasn’t injured. Both men had their seatbelts on when the crash occurred. The investigations also uncovered that the accident was not caused by speeding. However, it is unclear at this time if alcohol was a factor.
The officers that responded to the crash were from the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, the Monroe Township Fire Department, and the Monroe Community Ambulance.
