After months-long legal proceedings and convening with drunk driving attorneys, a man accused of driving while intoxicated last summer in Las Vegas, Nevada, has pleaded guilty to the charge. The suspect, identified as Daniel Lovato, made a court appearance on Wednesday, May 27, where he pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence resulting in substantial bodily harm.
According to jail records, the suspect was in custody last summer, stemming from a July 23 multi-vehicle crash. Five vehicles were involved in the encounter, and a motorist suffered serious injuries. No fatality resulted from the incident.

Lovato was reportedly driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Stewart when he approached a red light at the Christy Lane intersection. Other vehicles ahead of the suspect stopped at the intersection to obey the traffic sign. Lovato failed to stop his car on time, causing him to rear-end a 2006 Mercedes Benz Sedan directly in front of him on the same lane.
The impact pushed the sedan forward until it smashed into other parked vehicles, starting a chain-reaction crash. The operator of one of the vehicles involved ended up hospitalized in critical condition.
When the police accosted the suspect, he told officers he was on his way to a liquor store. The motorist refused a breathalyzer test, and field sobriety tests conducted on him confirmed certain levels of impairment. Detectives also ordered a blood/alcohol test on Levato, but the results remain unavailable to the public.
The testimony of an eyewitness affirmed that Levato possessed a small open container of vodka in his vehicle when the traffic collision happened.
They arrested him on DUI suspicions. Court documents show the culprit is due for sentencing on September 23. An experienced drunk driving attorney may be able to review the terms of his sentence.
