The caller told officers that the vehicle, driving through Dakota, suddenly veered off the roadway and crashed into a telephone pole. Carter reportedly got out of his car and mounted a black skateboard on which he left the crash site. The witness offered a description of the suspect. That and a registration check on the vehicle helped officers locate him.
A deputy found Carter in his front yard, with the described skateboard nearby. On sighting the lawman, the suspect picked up a car tire and threatened the officer, swinging as if to hit him. When the man attempted to attack the deputy with his fists, the lawman tasered him. A second officer soon joined the display, and the two arrested the culprit.
Paramedics responded at the scene at deputies’ request due to airbag and taser deployment and minor injuries on the suspect’s arm. Carter also underwent a medical evaluation at McLaren Hospital in Oakland, the accident reports affirmed.
They detained him at the Oakland County Jail, with a personal bond of $2,500. His charges include resisting, assaulting and obstructing law enforcement, with another court appearance slated for June 4.
