According to reports, the fatal crash occurred at about 5500-block of East Parmer Lane. Police preliminary findings uncovered that the driver of a Hummer failed to yield.
The driver was heading south on Parmer, and the vehicle she didn’t yield to is a Mercedes-Benz ML3, driven by Cain Perez Estrada, 34. The man struck the passenger side of the Hummer, which had two children inside.
The other child, who has not been identified, was also taken to the same hospital as Lopez and underwent surgery. There is currently no update on the youngster’s conditions. Estrada sustained minor injuries, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police found out the man was intoxicated at the time of the crash and charged him with suspicion of DUI. They believe Estrada’s impaired state contributed to the accident, and he will need a drunk driving attorney to defend himself.
There is no information on the identity of the driver of the Hummer, or on whether he or she was injured.

This seems like a complicated case. Have police released if the driver of the Hummer is receiving a citation for not yielding? I am not condoning the actions taken by Mr. Estrada, and I am glad that the police got another drunk driver off of the road. Children are always vulnerable in a car, it is important to make sure they are restrained properly. Thoughts to the families of all the people involved in the accident.
