The greyhound bus, driven by Jerry Henson, 66, of Lancaster, was traveling west on US-82. The vehicle struck the front driver-side door of the pickup, leaving it wrecked. Soliz sustained severe injuries that led to his death, and the medics pronounced him at the scene.
Henson went unscathed from the collision, and the 16 passengers on the bus did not sustain any injury. The TDPS did not state whether the bus driver was negligent in any way, and there is no additional information at this time.
Facts gathered by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) from accident reports show that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of deaths of teenagers in the United States. A 2017 statistics show that male drivers between the ages of 16 and 19 crash twice than female drivers of the same age.
The risk involving young drivers increases because of unsupervised driving and inexperience. Traffic officials advise teen drivers to exercise care on the road and obey traffic rules put in place for their safety.
