Car accident reports identify the other driver as Brian L. Coles, 71, of Houston. He suffered injuries in the incident, as did passengers Sean Coles, 39, also of Houston, and a boy, 11, troopers reported.
Horner at about 3:20 p.m. Monday was driving westbound on Texas 315 just outside Clayton when she lost control of her vehicle and drifted across the centerline, according to car accident reports. Troopers said Horner’s vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Brian Coles.
Horner was transported to an area trauma center for treatment, but she was pronounced dead from her injuries, according to authorities. Brian Coles also was treated at a hospital, but was released soon after.
Sean Coles and the juvenile passenger also suffered injuries that required hospitalization. Car accident reports available Tuesday evening did not include updated condition reports.
The incident still is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Troopers said they have not yet determined why Horner allowed her vehicle to cross the centerline, and reports available so far do not list whether investigators suspect other contributing factors, such as speed or intoxication.
If more details are released, they likely will be included in public record car accident reports.
