A male bicyclist in Milam County, Texas, lost his life on Tuesday, April 21st, and a bicycle accident attorney might be needed if legal issues arise. John David Hernandez, 66, died after his bicycle collided with a vehicle.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a call about an auto-bicycle collision on US 79 west of Rockdale City. When they arrived, they found Hernandez lying on the roadway with severe injuries and unresponsive.

The deceased, according to the preliminary accident report, was riding his bicycle west in the center turn lane. At the same time, a Dodge Ram pickup driven by an unidentified driver was heading west toward the man.
The TDPS said Hernandez failed to yield the right of way to the pickup and ended up merging into its path. The driver of the Dodge was unable to avoid colliding against the bicyclist, and the two struck each other.
The man sustained severe wounds, which he succumbed to at the scene. The authorities did not state if the pickup driver suffered any injury, but the investigation into the crash is active.
Auto-bicycle crashes are more fatal for the bicyclist than the driver of the vehicle because the former has little or no covering for his or her body. The human body sustains severe trauma when it lands on the roadway and injuries from internal bleeding to intracranial bleeding cause death.
The fault of the accident often lies with either the bicyclist or the driver of the vehicle. When it’s the latter, then the victim who survives or the estate of the one who dies can bring a legal action through a bicycle accident attorney.
