A drunk driving attorney would be needed after the watch of a police officer in Smyrna, Georgia, ended on Monday night, April 20th. Officer Christopher Ewing, 34, of the Smyrna Police Department, died while trying to get a suspected DUI driver, Roberto Lorenzo Cox, 35, to yield.
The report by the Georgia State Patrol showed that the deceased was on duty when he encountered a suspected DUI driver in a Chevrolet Tahoe. Ewing’s blue lights and siren were on, and he tried to get Cox to pull over, but the man failed to yield.

The deceased was on the south lane of South Cobb Drive while the suspect was on the north side. At about 11:20 p.m., the man attempted to make a left turn but ended up in the path of the victim, striking the police cruiser.
The impact of the crash sent the patrol car into the parking lot of a gas station. The latter is at the intersection of South Cobb and Oak Drives. An employee of the gas station then called 911, as people in the parking lot tried to free Ewing but was unsuccessful, and he died.
An eye witness told the authorities that Cob threw out two beer bottles from the Tahoe, and the police verified the statement using surveillance videos. The suspect was unstable on his feet, and he refused all field sobriety tests.
The police determined that the Duluth resident was under the influence and arrested him on charges of felony DUI and vehicular homicide. He is also facing misdemeanor traffic offenses and would need to hire a drunk driving attorney to represent him.
