Jatrinski’s charges could carry a significant prison term upon conviction, meaning he will need to obtain the services of a drunk driving attorney.
A trooper at about midnight Monday had stopped a vehicle on Summer Street in Fitchburg, according to authorities. The trooper, whose name was not included in a press release, had left his squad vehicle when it was rear-ended by Jatrinski.
The squad vehicle had its blue lights activated at the time of the crash, according to the press release.
The trooper checked Jatrinski for injuries and noted his slurred speech and signs of intoxication, the release stated. He was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, operating while suspended, failure to move over for an emergency vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Jatrinski on three previous occasions was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test, meaning his license automatically was suspended.
Jatrinski will be arraigned in Fitchburg District Court, authorities said. If convicted, the charges carry significant prison terms.
A drunk driving attorney will be needed to assist Jatrinksi in his defense.
