Yoder arrived at the scene at about 1:14 p.m. and pronounced the victim dead at about 1:41 p.m. The authorities said that Patterson was the only occupant of his motorcycle, and no other vehicle was involved, making it a solo crash.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and the authorities requested a toxicology test to rule out drugs or (and) alcohol as contributing factors. They will provide an update at a later time.
Solo motorcycle collisions are not uncommon in Illinois and the United States. Accident reports show that most bike accidents end fatally for the rider due to the severity of wounds the rider sustains. They include head injuries, concussions, brain bleeds, fractures, broken bones, internal bleeding, and organ damage.
Traffic authorities advise motorcycle riders to follow safety measures when riding. Wear the US-DOT specified helmet, and protective apparels to minimize the risk of fatal injuries.
