Dilling, who was driving the vehicle, lost control of it for unknown reasons; he left the roadway, hit gravel, and then traveled across both lanes. Romer said that the car then struck some trees and ended up on the westbound lane.
By the time first responders arrived at the scene, Dilling was unresponsive, and they pronounced him dead. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the BPD was assisted at the scene by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Transportation.
Single-vehicle crashes are not uncommon in Texas and the United States; it is one of the most frequent types of accidents. The factors that lead to it include overs speeding, wet roads, vehicle defect, distracted driving, reckless driving, and impairment of the driver.
