State of Massachusetts officials on Wednesday apprehended a man accused of striking a state trooper with a pickup truck during a traffic stop one day earlier in Taunton.
Thirty-two-year-old Claude Remy, of Dorchester, faces multiple charges in connection to the incident, according to a release from the Massachusetts State Police. Charges include attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery of a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, larceny and assault with intent to murder.

A press release also states Remy was cited with failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, a left lane restriction violation and a marked lane violation. He likely will need to secure representation from a car injury attorney.
Remy at about 8 p.m. Tuesday was driving a pickup truck on County Street when a state trooper pulled him over at a Taunton gas station. But when the trooper approached Remy’s truck, an altercation ensued, authorities said.
The trooper was dragged from the scene by the truck and eventually tossed to the ground, causing a head injury, authorities said. The press release did not reveal the identity of the trooper, nor did it provide a condition report.
Remy then fled the scene, according to the release. Investigators searched for him overnight, eventually tracking him to a home in Framingham, where he was arrested at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Remy is being held on a $75,000 bond ahead of future court appearances. A car injury attorney will be instrumental for Remy as he navigates the criminal justice system.
