When they arrived, crews found smoke billowing from the unit’s front door.
EFD Battalion Chief Rob Ford said the fire started on the top floor, which consisted of common areas including a living room and kitchen. The flames were contained before spreading to bedrooms on the bottom floor.
Two adults and a minor, who are residents of the condo, sustained unknown injuries and were transported to Scripps La Jolla.
Ford stated the condo is currently uninhabitable due to heavy smoke damage and additional damage from the flames.
At this time, the cause of the fire is unclear. Following protocol with the sustained injuries, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s bomb and arson team was called in to help with the ongoing investigation.
