The accident happened at about 3 p.m. after the victim veered off the roadway of State Route 86. Before that, Enriquez was traveling southbound in a Honda Civic. Investigators with the California Highway Patrol said that for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off the road, slammed into a tree, and caught fire.
A passerby stopped and extricated the woman from the burning vehicle, and first responders airlifted her to the hospital for treatment. The CHP is heading the investigation into the crash, and for now, they have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as a contributing crash.
Accidents occur for several reasons and are often life-altering or fatal. Some common causes of crashes, as seen in accident reports, are drunk driving, over speeding, running red lights, and distracted driving. It takes about three seconds for a distracted driver to crash.
Other causes are animal sighting, disobeying traffic signs, tailgating, and adverse weather conditions like rain, snow, and fog. Underlying medical conditions, manufacturer’s defect, as well as an illegal road crossing and wrong-way driving also contribute.
