Early in the morning of March 1, bystanders outside of a bar were injured by 28-year-old Christian Davis. Davis intentionally drove a U-haul van into the crowd at The Saloon Bar located at the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101.
According to The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, Davis was asked to leave the establishment prior to the accident occurring. The bar staff considered him too intoxicated.

Police were summoned to the establishment around 1:19 a.m. after Davis’ van struck three people.
One of the victims struck by the van was taken to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries from the accident. The other two struck by the van were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for serious injuries from the accident.
Two more people received minor injuries at the scene of the accident because they physically detained Davis until the police could arrive. They were taken to Scripps Encinitas Hospital for treatment of those injuries.
Davis did not receive a serious injury in the collision. He was arrested and taken to the Vista Detention Facility. He is currently facing four felony charges. Three of these felonies are for first degree attempted murder. One is for attempting to escape using force.
His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
There have been no updates on those who were injured at the scene of the accident. It has not been disclosed the blood alcohol level that Davis had at the time of the arrest.
In California, the first-degree attempted murder charges are a life sentence with parole. Typically, those who are convicted of this spend at a minimum of 10 years in prison prior to parole.
The second charge that Davis is facing can carry up to a four-year prison sentence.
