California is one of 19 states that require all riders and passengers on a motorcycle to wear a helmet. Helmets are required to meet the requirements of the Department of Transportation standards.
Department of Transportation approved helmets will have a sticker affixed to it that certifies their approval. There are some helmets out there that have fraudulent stickers on them, so inspect them thoroughly.
The interior of an approved helmet is at least one inch in thickness. The inside of the liner isn’t always visible, but you can inspect it by touch.
The chinstrap will be sturdy. A lot of cheaply made helmets have cheaply applied chinstraps. These helmets also weigh around three pounds. Light helmets are typically imposter helmets.
There is no indication if Vargas was wearing a helmet during the time of the accident. His injuries nor cause of death have been released to the public. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. More details will be provided as they are
