On Monday, August 31st, the California Highway Patrol released the details of the car crash survived by Allan Maliones, 13-year-old Arianna Maliones, and 8-year-old Rosabella Maliones. The incident occurred in Modesto, California, on Sunday morning, August 30th.
The car accident report released by the CHP showed that the crash occurred on the southbound lane of Highway 99 north of the Beckwith Road/Standiford Avenue interchange. The highway patrol Modesto office spokesman Thomas Olsen said the events that led to the occurrence started with a 2005 GMC SUV.

Olsen said the vehicle driver at about 2:05 a.m veered off the southbound lane of the roadway and struck the center divider. The motorist then exited the vehicle and fled the scene leaving the rear end of the SUV partially blocking the fast lane.
About a minute later, Allan, who operated a 2006 Honda Sedan on the southbound lane, struck the SUV and rested in the center lane. The spokesman did not indicate if the driver suffered injuries, but he revealed that Arianna, the front right-seat passenger, complained of chest pains.
Medics took the teenager, who wore a seatbelt, to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. Rosabella was lying on the backseat without a seatbelt, and she suffered a fractured right femur. A Calstar helicopter transported the girl to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.
Olsen said that the crash proved the usefulness of seatbelts, noting that Rosabella’s injuries would have been less severe if she was not lying down unbelted. The SUV driver remains at large, and the CHP would release an update as events unfold.
