A man was killed after fleeing from the police officers and crashing into another vehicle in southwest Chicago Ridge. The fatal incident took place just after midnight on Friday, September 18 as per the accident reports. Authorities identified the deceased as Alontae D. London, 22, of Burnside.
According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, a trooped attempted to stop London as he was driving southbound on the I-57. The stop was attempted close to the Vollmer Road at around 12:30 a.m. London was driving a blue 2018 Ford Mustang at the time.

London didn’t stop and instead fled eastbound along the 95th Street. As he approached the intersection at the Ridgeland Avenue, he continued in spite of a red light. Another vehicle, traveling southbound on the Ridgeland at the time, had a green light through the intersection. This second vehicle was identified as a maroon 2007 Ford Focus.
The Ford came into collision with the Mustang as Alontae D. London tried to drive through the red light. The Mustang was hit on the driver’s side. The sheer impact of the collision caused London to be ejected from the vehicle. He was critically injured and died on the scene of the crash. His identification details were initially withheld and later released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The driver of the Ford Focus sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was identified by ISP only as a Bridgeview male aged 57. Once first responders arrived, he was taken to an area hospital for emergency treatment. ISP continues to investigate the crash and may reveal more details in subsequent accident reports.
