They have not identified the family member that is responsible for backing into the child.
When police and emergency services arrived at the scene, the child was pronounced dead before they could even transport him to a local hospital.
Wright described Harris as a smart child who was full of life. He would have turned 4-years-old in June of this year.
The correct name for the accident that killed Harris is called a backover accident. This is a type of car accident that occurs when a driver is in reverse and comes into contact with another person or vehicle.
Most of these accidents occur because someone is in a rush or they are distracted while they are backing up. Most of these fatal accidents occur with children. Unless there is a back-up camera present, most younger aged children can’t be seen over the trunk of a vehicle.
It is possible that nobody saw Harris run behind the vehicle. The police have not said if charges will be filed.
The Georgia State Patrol is running point on the investigation into this tragic accident.
