Police in Clayton County are looking for the driver responsible for the death of 21-year-old David Robert James. The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. on March 10 in Interstate 675 at Highway 42 in Rex.

Investigators have pieced together that James’ friend’s truck had been stolen. He had tracked down the thief and the truck and confronted the driver. Both of their vehicles left the road and ended up in the woods.

The scene that police found involved James’ Lincoln LS underneath the stolen blue Dodge Ram truck. The truck also had a yellow Yamaha motorcycle strapped down in the bed.

After driving over James’ car, the driver of the Dodge left the scene of the accident. Police attempted a search for the driver but were unsuccessful.

James was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Police do not have all of the specific details about how the accident occurred. If they know the name of the driver responsible for James’ death, they have not released it.

Police did not release any information on the actual owner of the Dodge. It is uncertain when the truck was stolen. If a stolen vehicle report exists, it was not released in the initial reports.

Police are currently investigating the accident. They are requesting that if anyone has any information regarding the accident to call their tip line.

It is not clear if the driver of the Dodge was injured in the accident or not.
