Two people were injured, one seriously, in a head-on collision Sunday night in Jo Daviess County, authorities reported Monday.
Twenty-year-old Avery Goswick, of Stockton, suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was airlifted to OSF Saint Medical Center in Rockford, officials from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.

The other driver, 26-year-old Brady Groezinger, of Hanover, was transported to Freeport’s FHN Memorial Hospital, according to car accident reports. No other injuries were reported.
Deputies said Goswick was westbound on South Massback Road near Stockton at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday when he collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle operated by Groezinger.
Car accident reports do not state which driver is believed to have caused the crash.
The release did not provide updated condition reports for either man. Deputies have not said whether any charges will be filed or citations issued as a result of the wreck, and it’s not clear whether factors like inattentive driving or speed contributed.
The incident remains under investigation by the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department. If investigators do ultimately bring charges or citations forward, Goswick or Groezinger might hire a top accident lawyer for representation.
A Facebook user who identified herself as Goswick’s mother wrote several posts detailing his treatment after the incident. She reported at least one surgical procedure, and also asked friends to post encouraging videos to Goswick on the social media platform TikTok.
“To the Stockton community, you all are amazing in your continued outpouring of support,” she wrote in one of the posts. “Obviously, (Goswick) will not be home today or tomorrow, but a small estimate is around two weeks at the soonest.”
