The chain reaction event, according to the Gwinnett County Police, started with a ladder that fell off a vehicle. A car then struck it in the middle of the interstate, setting off a collision that involved six automobiles, consisting of two tractor-trailers, three cars, and an SUV.
Daugherty was one of the drivers involved in the deadly collision, but he survived that day with severe wounds. The man has been undergoing treatment at an undisclosed hospital until he passed away. The authorities did not disclose the date the victim died.
In a press release with a picture of the ladder involved in the collision, GCP spokesman, Cpl. Collin Flynn called for the public’s help in identifying the owner. The police believe that finding the owner would help them understand how the blue ladder ended up on the interstate.
The owner, in the light of Daugherty’s demise, would also face criminal charges and would need a car injury lawyer. Anyone with relevant information should contact the GCP or use the Crime Stopper’s tipsters’ line if they wish to remain anonymous.
