Without turning on their sirens, CHP officers followed the Ford F350 truck from the northbound Interstate 280 to 19th Avenue, and over the Golden Gate Bridge. Walton, who was driving the car, took the Highway 1 exit into Mill Valley, and an officer driving an unmarked car tried to get him to pull over.
The suspect failed to stop and fled to Ethel Avenue south of Throckmorton Avenue. At this point, Walton lost control of the truck and drove into a private driveway, crashing into a building. The authorities determined that he was under the influence and took him into custody.
The police booked the suspect into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading police, and driving under the influence of drugs. He is also facing charges of hit-and-run driving with property damage and other crimes; his bail is set at $25 000.
Those involved in a DUI accident should hire a top accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
