Motorcycle accidents can occur for various reasons: speed, impairment, adverse road conditions, or other external influences. Motorcyclists can mitigate the factors if they trade their need for speed and other reckless behavior for caution and safety when on the roadway.
Motorcycle riders must ensure that they make their bikes fit for the road they are traveling on by carrying out safety checks before riding. Check the tires for bulges or cracks, or signs of wear in the tread, look under the motorcycle for oil, gas, hydraulic, or coolant fluids leakage, and test the headlights for low and high beams.
After mounting the bike, make sure the clutch and throttle are working smoothly and clean and adjust the mirrors to ensure the sharpest viewing. Test front and rear brakes for firmness, and test the horn for adequate functionality.
