The rider of the motorcycle was identified as 26-year-old Austin Daniel Vargas Rodes of Northridge. During the accident, he was tossed to the ground. The report indicated that Rodes was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Rodes was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Mini Cooper was not seriously injured in the accident. The passenger side door sustained most of the damage, and the airbags in the vehicle did deploy due to impact.

The damage to the motorcycle was described as significant. Police said that the road was wet at the time of the accident, and that could have played a part in the accident as well.

There has been no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. There have been arrests made or citations given as a result of the accident.

The police are still investigating the accident. The road was blocked off for an extended time so that a full investigation of the scene could be done. After clearing the path of debris, police allowed traffic through as usual.
