The accident occurred on the north side of the roadway, west of Lancaster Street, which is east of Plainville city limits. Cedillo was attempting to cross the road when a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup struck him.
The DPS said that the pickup driver, Lorenzo, 64, said he did not see the teenager crossing the road. An ambulance took Cedillo to Covenant Hospital in Plainville, and the doctors pronounced him dead.
The report did not state if the pickup truck driver would get cited. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
A pedestrian accident is one of the leading causes of fatalities in Texas and the United States. It often results from a driver’s negligence or from the pedestrian failing to look carefully before crossing the roadway.
Most pedestrian accidents result in lawsuits. The common ones are hit-and-run when a driver flees the scene, a wrongful death when a person dies, and personal injury when the pedestrian-only gets injured.
A car accident lawyer is needed in either of the cases, and those involved in an accident should engage the services of one.
