The victims were at the time walking on the sidewalk right in front of the DJ’s Scottsdale Bar & Grill located in the area. A Chevy Suburban, driven by 52-year-old Allami Hussain, suddenly jumped the curb and crashed into the building, running over the two pedestrians in the process. Scottsdale Police Sgt Ben Hoster divulged that the motorist exited from his Suburban and took off on foot.
APD officers were able to locate him a few yards away, hiding behind one of the commercial ventures on the block. They took Hussain into custody, on a charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident with bodily injuries.
Meanwhile, the victims suffered severe injuries in the collision. One of them remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, while the other is out of danger.
Intoxication appeared to be a contributor in the crash, and the results of the toxicology tests carried out on the driver would confirm the possibility.
Anyone involved in a traffic collision should get in touch with an auto accident attorney as soon as possible.
