A routine traffic stop initiated by a trooper in Kirbyville turned into a high-speed chase on March 4. The trooper was attempting to stop a silver Mazda because it didn’t have a front license plate. As soon as he turned on his lights, the driver picked up speed and went south before entering Highway 62.
Deputies from Orange and Jasper counties pitched in to help the Texas Department of Public Safety in their pursuit.
