It crossed a set of railroad tracks and reportedly became airborne. The police said that Ross lost control of the car, and it crashed into the residence. The impact caused the house to go up in flames, trapping one person inside.

The individual was still inside when the police arrived, and Officers Nicholas Renfro and Juan Resendez forcefully entered the house and retrieved the 83-year-old man inside. The resident appeared unharmed.

The officers found Ross and two teenagers who traveled with her close to the scene and placed her under arrest. They charged her with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and endangering the health or life of a child.

The woman would also answer to a charge of no valid driver’s license – expired for more than six months. The police took her to HSHS St. John’s Hospital to treat minor injuries before booking her into the Sangamon County Jail.

The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing, and there’s no additional information. Offenses of this nature carry a prison term, fines, and other punishments determined by the court.
