The SUV’s 19-year-old driver was also not wearing a seatbelt, but an 18-year-old female front-seat passenger described as the motorist’s girlfriend used the strap. The investigators said that the driver made an unsafe turning movement for unknown reasons, causing him to lose control.
The SUV collided with the center divider wall and rolled over. The medical examiner-coroner’s office said that Andrade suffered head trauma, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver who shares the same last name as the victim and the female teen sustained minor injuries. The highway patrol did not make any arrest immediately after the collision as they did not suspect the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing, and anyone with credible information should contact the CHP’s Central Los Angeles-area office.
