At the same time, a Yamaha YZR 450 operated by a 13-year-old boy was eastbound on Brite. For an unknown reason, the quad rider drove through a stop sign at Wasco, straight into the path of Honda, causing a collision.

The impact injured Zapedo, and he received treatment from the paramedics. The 6:30 p.m. collision did not wound Navaro, but the teen ATV rider suffered fatal wounds, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

A 15-year-old male passenger on the quad suffered significant injuries, and an air ambulance conveyed him to Kern Medical for treatment. The investigation is ongoing, and there’s no additional information at this time.

Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States. Male teens are often more likely to crash than females and crashes are more prominent among those within the ages of 16 to 19 years.

The above are preventable if teen drivers follow the strategies and tips for their safety. The preceding cover but are not limited to obeying stop signs, driving without impairment, and maintaining the speed limit.
