The California Highway Patrol stated in the car accident report that the victim alighted from a Toyota Yaris after a Dodge Charger rear-ended her at about 1:50 a.m.

It happened on the southbound lane of the highway south of Third Avenue. A Toyota Camry operated by Hernandez then struck Torres and the Dodge, leaving the woman with fatal injuries that claimed her life at the crash site.
