The Los Angeles woman who allegedly took the police on a chase in Dana Point, California, last week before crashing her car, has been charged. Documents from the Orange County Court on Monday, August 24th, showed that 44-year-old Ariana Joyce is facing felony charges of murder and driving under the influence of drugs causing injury.
The woman is also facing sentence enhancement for committing an offense while released from custody and would need a car accident lawyer’s expertise. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, they took the suspect into custody following her release from the hospital on Wednesday, August 19th.

The county jail records showed that Joyce remains in custody in place of a $1 million bail bond. While driving a Toyota Corolla, the suspect fled from the Laguna Beach Police Department officers who pursued her.
The sheriff’s department said that the officers retreated from the chase, and a short while after, Joyce crashed into a Subaru Impreza at about 10:35 p.m. in Dana Point. A Laguna Beach Police spokesman said on Tuesday, August 25th, that he did not immediately know the pursuit’s details or why officers stopped chasing the car.
Three young people in the Subaru were on their way home after playing music at Strands Beach. Emergency responders had to cut out one of them, 23-year-old Jason Carbonell of Rancho Santa Margarita, from the wrecked car. He later died from his injuries in a hospital.
The victim’s twin brother, Brian, suffered severe injuries, while his girlfriend, Mayly Willey, had a minor ankle injury.
