A press release from the California Highway Patrol on Monday, August 10th, revealed a female teen driver died in a collision on State Route 299 in the Douglas City area of California. The release did not disclose the name of the fatal Modoc teenager, but it noted that Jimmy Easley of Groveton, Texas, survived the incident.

The car accident report by the CHP placed the time of the occurrence at about 9:05 a.m. The investigators stated that the 15-year-old teen drove a white 2003 Chevrolet 1500 pickup eastbound on SR-299, west of the Indian Creek Lodge.

The teenager who appeared to be a wrong-way driver on the roadway’s westbound lanes overtook several vehicles at an undetermined speed rate. At the same time, Easley, operated a white 2015 Chevrolet 3500 pickup westbound on SR-299, approaching the first vehicle.

The investigators said that the juvenile driver tried to overtake a white 2015 3 axle semi-truck and collided head-on with the victim’s car. The collision impact sent the teenager’s vehicle into the air, and it crashed against the left-rear end of the semi upon descent. Both vehicles rested on the westbound lane, blocking the path of other motorists.

The teen driver sustained a fatal wound, and medics declared her dead at the crash site. They treated Easley for minor injuries and released him at the scene, while the driver of the semi-truck went unscathed. The roadway remained closed for an hour and 15 minutes, while the CHP cleared debris.

The investigators said that they have not determined if drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision. The inquiry into the incident remains active, and anyone with further information can contact the highway patrol on the listed line.
