Cpl. M.A. Storey of the Georgia State Patrol said that for unknown reasons, the truck struck the tractor from behind, causing Bell to get ejected. The man landed on the roadway and sustained severe trauma that led to his death. The medics at the scene pronounced him dead.

The accident which occurred precisely at Harold Smith Road led to the closure of the roadway while investigators conducted their preliminary inquiry. The GSP reopened the road after clearing the debris, and have not released any information on the liability of the truck driver.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the authorities will release an update once they have more information.

A rear-ended collision is one of the common types of motor vehicle crashes, and it mostly ends fatally. The factors that contribute to this kind of accident include driver’s inattention or distraction, tailgating, panic stops, and reduced traction due to wet weather or worn pavement.

Those involved in rear-ended collisions should contact auto accident attorneys for legal advice and representation.
