The preliminary accident report showed that the man died on Wednesday, April 29th, three days after getting hit by a vehicle on Sunday night, April 26th. The crash took place in front of Jayvee Liquors in the 3600-block of San Pablo Dam Road at approximately 8:25 p.m.

The police said that Allen was standing in front of the store when a ’98 Toyota Camry traveling east on San Pablo Dam Road struck him. An eyewitness told the investigators that the deceased was trying to retrieve his property after someone threw it onto the roadway.

Allen sustained severe wounds, and the medics took him to an undisclosed hospital where he remained until his death. The driver of the Camry, identified as a 57-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The police said that the area where the accident occurred was not marked and too dark. The accident remains under investigation, and there’s no additional information at this time.

Pedestrian accidents are one of the leading causes of fatalities in road traffic collisions in California. The state’s Office of Traffic Control advises both pedestrians and drivers to follow safety tips, pay attention to the roadway, and avoid distractions when walking and driving.

Those involved in auto-pedestrian accidents should hire a car injury attorney for legal advice and representation.
