A man whom the police in Pomona, California, took into custody after a hit-and-run accident would need a car accident lawyer. The authorities on Thursday, April 30th, arrested Alejandro Aviles, of Etiwanda, after he fled the scene of an accident on foot.

The Pomona Police Department Sgt. Padilla said that the crash sent two people to the hospital with injuries. Officers received a call about the accident and responded to the scene at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Towne Avenue at about 8 p.m.

They soon discovered that the Aviles, who caused the crash, had fled the scene on foot, and a short chase began. While the latter was ongoing, the suspect threw a gun away. The officers captured him a few blocks away from the accident scene and effected an arrest.

The injured persons, identified as a female driver and a child, were taken to the hospital for treatment, and their condition is unknown at this time. Padilla said that they booked Aviles on suspicion of DUI, and unlawful possession of a firearm, and high capacity magazine.

The police did not state why a hit-and-run charge was not included. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information should contact the PPD.

A hit-and-run is a severe offense in the state of California that prosecutors try as a misdemeanor of a felony. A conviction means a prison sentence, a fine, or both. Those involved in this kind of accident should contact a car accident lawyer for legal advice and representation.
